A building photograph is usually two exposures arguing. Outside, the facade stands in shade while the sky behind it runs several stops brighter, and whichever one you set, the other goes. Inside, the same fight happens at the window. Pulling the highlights back until both survive is the easy half. Doing it without flattening stone and concrete into grey mush is the real work, because material is what the picture was about.
