Green and nature Lightroom presets
3 packs for green and nature photography, from $29.99 to $199. Every pack shown before and after.
A wood is not one green. Moss, new leaf, old leaf, lichen and the water running under all of it sit inside a narrow band of hue, and a global saturation slider treats them as the same colour: push it and the foliage goes acid, pull it and the whole frame dies. The work on this kind of file is separation, one green held apart from the next, with leaf luminance decided rather than left where the camera put it.
Macro brings its own problem. The focus plane is thin, so the few millimetres that are sharp have to carry the photograph, and the wash of colour behind them must not compete for attention. A petal, a ridge of bark and a lichen crust each want a different amount of micro- contrast to read as themselves.
Understory by Mossgrade is fifteen looks for that world, shown on a farm gate, a canoe on a lake, wet moss and a tree canopy. Blossom Drift and Cut Flowers by Petalpastel is thirty-six across two ideas, the orchard outside and the cut stems on a linen table indoors. Nature and Night by Fernnight is the large one, five hundred and forty presets whose collections run from Bark Lichen, Macro Thin, Glasshouse Damp and Waterfall Silk through Terrace Green and Understory Mist, then keep going past the garden into feather, fur, reef water and the Milky Way core.
Take Mossgrade or the Petalpastel pair when the subject is settled and close to home. The Fernnight library suits a photographer whose year also includes the coast and the night sky.
