Travel and street Lightroom presets

Travel photographs fail in a particular way. Everything receives the same warm, contrasty treatment, and a market in one country comes out looking like a market in another. A grade for places has to keep whatever was specific about the air: the dust on a road, the paint on a shutter, the exact grey of a wet pavement at night with a shopfront on it.

Height and distance are the other half of the problem. From a rooftop or a bridge the subject is mostly atmosphere, and the file arrives with haze lying flat across the far buildings. Push the contrast there and the sky thins out; leave it alone and the city looks like a scan of itself.
